Bali is the first overseas destination that I travelled alone and I fell in love immediately. It could be the emotion of new joy travelling alone or Bali is truly a special place. It was in the year 2004.
From there onwards, my affair with Bali grew. I was 400 metres away from Raja’s Restaurant during the 2005 Bali bombing and I was amazed how Balinese come together during that time. Then I accepted a job posting based in Bali and stay there for 2 years.
After I left, I make a promise to myself that I will travel to Bali at least once a year. To meet up with friends, enjoy the local foods or just be there stay in a nice hotel and chill. I think I make good of my promise on this one except the year 2018.
Over the years, Bali changes too.
I would say it is overcrowded now, especially in Kuta area but you are still able to find some secluded or less crowded area to enjoy your stay there. As I work in the travel industry, I always complained to our partner in Bali that they need new attractions to make the destination fresh and more appealing to the younger generation. They have been offering the same old itinerary for more than 10 years!
And guess what? I google top 10 Instagrammable places in Bali recently and it seems like it is time for me to visit the old flame again. Time to book the ticket and pack the bag!
